Laura Miranda has been a Geoscience Lecturer at Southern Nazarene University for 7 years. Her classes are centered around conservation and environmental health. She is interested in the health effects of climate change across the world, including marine and coastal life, forests, and atmospheric. Laura is also a wildlife rehabilitator of small mammals. She has seen the negative impact climate change has on vulnerable populations.
Mark is a highly accomplished scientist, with wide-ranging interests in biotechnology and public service. He has over 200 publications, extensive patents, and has lectured in national and international conferences. Mark’s work in biotechnology has led to important medicines that treat multiple human diseases and have helped more than 100 million patients across the world. Additionally, he is the scientific founder of the public company Cyclerion Therapeutics, a member of the board of Ironwood Pharmaceuticals, he is also a board member of the technology company Science Exchange, and on the advisory boards of Biocentury and Sea Pharmaceutical
The mission of the scale is to provide a tool to demonstrate the importance of the integrated connections across the Land, Atmosphere, and Marine ecosystems and physical environments. Our environment is constantly changing, LAMA will monitor those changes.
